PRODUCT OVERVIEW
PERSMAIT is an extremely powerful Personal/Personnel File
Manager. This program is designed for an individual who is
looking for a good easy to use tool to organize all their
miscellaneous personnel information either in the home or at
the office.
PERSMAIT comes with easy to use full screen input/output,
featuring name, address, phone numbers and other pertinent
information you'd like to have safely stored away. It allows
fast input, updating, deleting functions as well as full keyboard
editing features.
PERSMAIT is a great right hand guide to organizing all of your important personal or business personnel information. It
presently includes list processing and the capability to run
mailing labels.
PERSMAIT has a mail merge output feature. This allows you to
create a subfile from your database compatible with SCRIBBLE!'s
mail merge feature. With PERSMAIT's user defined print flags
this gives you great power for developing lists.
PERSMAIT ask you for the data file name (it creates this file
if it can't find it). This allows you to organize different data
bases, which can be merge together at anytime.
PERSMAIT runs in its own screen. You can size down the
display window just enough to send it to the background there by
freeing up your Amiga for other tasks. Simply bring the screen
forward to continue processing.
PERSMAIT can run in INTERLACE mode. You can run in INTERLACE
mode by entering the program name at the CLI passing it an "H"
to set the INTERLACE screen.

III. The Screen Overview:
A. Full Keyboard Editing features.
The PERSMAIT program supports all arrow keys,
the TAB KEY, RETURN, BACKSPACE and DELETE key.
If you're entering a record and make a mistake,
simply BACKSPACE over the wrong characters
or use the DELETE KEY to erase your mistakes.
When entering information either press RETURN,
TAB or the RIGHT ARROW KEY to get you to the
next field (forward tabbing). To get back up to
the previous field press the UP ARROW KEY (backward
tabbing).
B. Function Keys:
1. F1 - Adds the record to your permanent file.
Only use this key when all information
is entered on the screen and you are
ready to save the information.
2. F2 - Searches and finds existing records.
Use this key to access a record
previously entered into the permanent file.
This is used to look up information, to
make a change in a record or to delete
a record.
3. F3 - Updates existing records to the permanent
file. This can not be used to edit key
fields* (to be explained following). This
function allows you to change addresses,
phone numbers and any other field that
is not part of the key. You must find a
record (F2) before you can Update it.
4. Shift F5 - Deletes a record from the permanent
file. This function is only to be used
when you are certain you no longer need
an existing record. This can also be
used to delete a record where a change
needs to be made in a key field (name change).
You must find a record (F2) before you can
Delete it.
5. F8 - Overlay (strikeover) and Insert is a toggle
between either typing mode. The description
on the screen is the active mode. To change
modes simply press F8.
6. F9 - Clears the screen of the present record
and resets screen defaults (i.e. puts you
in overlay typing mode).
7. Shift F10 - exits the edit function.
IV. Available Custom programming enhancements.
If you require a specific screen field(s) adding
customized field(s) will be available, call for
more information.
Note: Why shifted function keys.
Deleting and Exiting of the edit function is a shifted
function key to prevent inadvertently performing
these functions.
More about KEY fields.
The program builds an internal KEY with the first
and last name fields as well as the middle initial.
After you find a record (F2) these fields can not
be changed and, in fact, the system prevents it. If you
need to change a name you must first delete the record
then add it with the new name.
When the system builds the KEY it takes character case
into consideration (i.e. McKinley is not the same as
Mckinley). Therefore when doing a find (F2) be sure you
enter the name exactly as you did when you originally
added the record. The commercial version has a generic
search capability which finds all occurrence (records)
that match at generic KEY (i.e. KEY = mck) finds both
McKinley as well as Mckinley.
Other.
The file "Rpers" renames PersM.info to PersMait.info
and PersM to PersMait. The names were shorted for
archival purposes.
